Re: Wheelstanders are fun

I like it! add a piece of brass or a way to add subtract weight to the lift section to fine tune how far it will carry the nose and be sure to add weight to the bottom frame as the body up catches a lot of air and tries to pull the rest up. the best part about wheel standers is when you get it done and spectaing kids say "LOOK  IT DID A WHEELIE"  they don't win  races but I try to keep it in the box to put on the track if i see some youngsters wander in

Re: Wheelstanders are fun

At our local track, we have a 10 year old kid. He beat's on all of us. He is 300 points ahead in the points chases this year with the season ending in december. He has a wheelstander. Sidewinder with a drop arm. He runs exhibition runs after the race. Figured I'd build one too so I could run him, lol.

Re: Wheelstanders are fun

Mark, did you ever finish working on the new design wheelie car that sits down at 60ft? My buddy Bubba said he had talked to you about it, I know he's wanting a wheelie car, I wouldn't mind having one like that either...

Re: Wheelstanders are fun

Yep I did it,  Its the same design as the LA Dart with less weight in the rear of the body, just fine tuning the weight to get the exact duration of wheelie I want.

Yep Sorry I couldnt help Bubba building one because I just dont have the spare time. But happy to explain how to build one

Re: Wheelstanders are fun

Crazy, You can see (not real well , Cars where going to fast )... the rear wheels are totally off the ground and in a wheelstand...

Been building some Resin cast of the old Eldon Dragsters from way back.. brass framed with bigger motors .. man these things are wild...and a blast to run..  I post some of the done ones soon..  I also have a video of them in action..

Re: Wheelstanders are fun

If the car leaves and never gets high enough to get to the balance point, wont it just fall back down? And instead of having the chassis that mounts directly to the body and goes upwards with it and never gets to its balance point and will just take off. Of course it wont go straight up like a wheel stander but it will look realistic and come up just barely like most real cars do anyways.
