Keen to build a strip and get racing - Complete Newbie

Hi All,

I'm a 1:32 RTR racer and recently I bought some braid for a job and have enough remaining that I though a drag strip would be the go!

I've been online researching and looking at what I can, read some great posts here etc...

I am however finding it difficult to get all the info I want.  To build a 1/4 mile strip and do it right first time I'll need more info.  Can anyone direct me to any good tutorials on setting up timing? How to create a good shutdown area?
I haven't read anything with 1/24 drag cars about having a braking circuit with 1/24.  Can this be done in 1/24?  ie. a dead strip and then shorting the motors after the finish line, maybe before being able to switch to a 6 volt current for sending cars to the return lane?

Cheers,
Damo.
