1962 Valiant padlock-powered drag car

A what if build of a Ramchargers 413 powered SS pushbutton car .
This body is listed as a 1963 but it really is a 62.
1962 predates the AWB A/FX class creation in NHRA by one year, the new models would be on the dealers showroom in the Sept. time frame. That would make the 62 Valiant available in Sept. of 1961.

New to this blog, till I learn it ... I can't post the pictures

Re: 1962 Valiant padlock-powered drag car

Hi Marty,
It's a Kemtron chassis kit powered by the once mighty 503x. Gears are a Kemtron pinion and a Revell spur, rear wheels and tires are Classic as used on the original MantaRay and Toronado. The fronts are Cox and the guide is Rinnalli loaded with Cox braids and a Champion of Chamblee weight.
The 'gas tank' is a comm wiper set-up. It is all NOS parts except the body is a not so great 're-pop' by Pattos.

Tasks to complete:

Install bracket for com. wet wiper.
Add body mounts
True rear tires
Find a set of matching fronts (or change rears)
Send body out for paint or do it myself
Mount body
Fill fuel tank with Nitromethane / horn Castor Oil mix

Zoom - zoom

Re: 1962 Valiant padlock-powered drag car

Bob they made that Plymouth as a kit, as you can see. This is I beleive it's a 63 Plymouth Lancer GT, has the emblem on the front fender.

Re: 1962 Valiant padlock-powered drag car

Thw NITRO  TANK system works as the wick takes the  fluid from the brass tank and transports it to the Comm which it rubs on.. imagine useing lighter fluid, fumes , a sparking comm ,a great effect  lol .
All that brass , Kemtron Chassis , Kemtron motor , silly sponges http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png
, brings a tear to an old mans http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/sleep.png
eyes..thanks for posting the pictures..

Re: 1962 Valiant padlock-powered drag car

New update pictures of what Rodney did to make the car better.
He first made the rear wheels, by using some of his rims and some airplane
German rubber tires from the 60s he had to cut them to size,

http://bracket500.com/mb/dv60b.jpg

Then he built the swing arm from scratch,

http://bracket500.com/mb/dv60e.jpg

Added correct rear gears.

Added right guide flag

I just need to get a new interior for it has the old one will not fit now.
