Gear ratio chart.

You might want to print this chart and keep it in your box.

Re: Gear ratio chart.

Here is a gear chart that figures in the tire diameter and gives you the final ratio.
For in between tire sizes you'll have to do the math. Print out a copy and keep one in your pit box, comes in handy at the track.

Re: Gear ratio chart.

NOT to highjack the post but i know Bill is really busy
all you need to do for your startline ratio is divide the crown or spur by the pinion and then divide that result by the tire height in Decimal
ie
48 / 16 =3
3 / 1.020  =2.941
i made an Excel spread sheet you can do this in but its the 2010 version and may not work on all computers
send me your email and i will copy you with it

Re: Gear ratio chart.

Bill all you need to do is change the tire size in one cell with the one you want and then Auto Fill the rest or Failing that use the internet for your program if its not an actual Excel sheet the internet is a great place to get answers but sometimes you need to do some research for yourself otherwise its hard to learn.

Re: Gear ratio chart.

Depends on the gear.  The pinion works where the higher the tooth count the more MPH and less launch off the start.  The lower the tooth count the more rpm is generated and less MPH.  The crown or spur gear works the opposite.  The more teeth on the spur gear the more rpm.  The smaller the gear you get more MPH.  So a 11/60 is going to launch harder than a 9/50.  The person that could tell you the exact scientific effect is Marty!

Re: Gear ratio chart.

Could someone please repost the gear chart above ( that includes tire size) ? It's blurry and I could really use a good copy!

Thanks for any forthcoming help! http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/smile.png
