rails with wings

Years ago, there was someone from SoCal (i think) writing about research he was doing on fast rails with wings, then everything was deleted... think he may have been booted. What happened to that info??? thinking about building a VR20 hard-tale rail. I see a lot of rails now that have pretty little wings that are only about an inch above the top of the motor, but people who have them say they do nothing but look good. I also see '90s era steel rails with wheelie bars , like the DRS TrueScale rails, that have much higher & bigger wings. As I remember from the above mentioned article, to be effective a wing had to be about 5.5" above the rear axle to be effective, any input would be appreciated.
