Ran into Mike at local track, he used to race 20 years ago.
I thought this chassis was interesting. He said he built it
back before they had these new chassis kits.

They will go even quicker than that with the right motor. Even though it appears a very simplistic car, the working rails can be made of the same size wire as the more modern chassis. Typically, if the main rails are of .055, and the wheelie bar upper rail is .047, with proper weight distribution/tire/gear, a grp12 motor can go mid .7's with one.
The current chassis with the steel motor box and nosepiece sure make cars easy to build however.

Steve trust me he could have, I forgot to mention the motor before he removed it for the picture session was that old too, he's going to get it tuned up... Then we will see, I can see 7's easy with it.

Don't know where you were, but this is what I was runnin' 20 years ago... & this chassis still kicks butt today. The peice you are showing looks more like 30 years ago, except for the gear...

Speaking of old builds, I bought this one used in late '90, no front wheels, no body mounts. Still going strong today, Plumber style chassis w/floating pans; old S16-D, .980 1000', 12.40 1/4 mi. still 1/8 axle & 48 pitch gears... If it ain't broke, why fix it...

,add a top brace from the wheelie wheels to the axle upright brace amd go win brackets , or uv solder the wheels an drop it on a road course , multi-purpose !
