Re: New Rail

Bill
Those are 1  3/16"*.500"
the guide thing was mainly to see what you could take out and have it still be functional but it did also allow it to be fairly forward as you said.

Re: New Rail

For those that dont already know this Dragster was a chassis built by DVan who asked me to be the hired gun and do some testing as he thought it could run .8s I basically added the Motor, body ,front and rear  wheels.
when i first saw it i was kind of eitherway about  it could run that number but with the first two motors it looked promising, well having run .9002  and not getting any luck with an 8,  I decided to put the extreme Raptor in which in hindsight might have been a motor too far so after talking with D i decided to go for it and see what we could get ,
well what i got was an animal that would either leap out the slot on the startline barely moving or moving a couple inches and go into spin which i luckily managed to catch so no damage to the motor
it was a long night I had forgotten it was index night so had to keep prepping the track ie very light start line glue
anyway i had started with a 14*48 gear and a 1.00" tire it was not happy with that
tried a few times with a bit of glue and this was the result

http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x398/novaz/oops.jpg

anyway after index racing finished i stayed on and tested some more basically it would just spin somewhere on the track i went through all the spur gears i had which is basically all you can buy  with no luck and burnt a few braids as well so i decided to lightly smear glue the whole track this did the job and it went
60=.1363
660=.5657
ET=.8820
MPH=64

http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x398/novaz/royz_dragster_time1.jpg

the set up for this was 14*60 1.01 tire and #8 with no blast on the controller.
so it went .8s which was the original goal I am sure there is a bunch more in the car
I will be at the track again tomorrow as i help turn marshall the *ircuit cars but will also be testing some of my Taco National cars and will do some more testing on the rail.
so i think we proved that this chassis does work although it will need a bunch more testing to get it to run quicker than it is at present with this motor
my impression is it may be a better car with the 12 raptor neo which was very consistent or maybe a straight 20 raptor
and what did surprise me was it stopped no problem though one run was only inches away from the WALL

Re: New Rail

You guys are nuts....    I seriously thought that you guys were joking about running the extreme motor in there.  Hehehehe, I love it!    I would have loved to see that car and motor combo make a clean pass.

Good job Roy, can't wait to see what you can run.

Re: New Rail

JP just ran a VR20 in a swing arm and ran .477 at 63.5 mph in the 1/8th.  Probably would have been in the .760 to .780 in the 1/4!

Re: New Rail

Well testing was short and sweet yesterday I made a pass with
extra weight in the nose and on the frame rails by the motor
Launch was good and it sounded like it might be quick BUT
no cigar
and to cap it all it made an attempt to ventilate the wall
luckily i had placed some extra padding there so wall is intact but the rail took a major hit
http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x398/novaz/DSC_1339.jpg

It basically pushed the rails up just in front of where the weight was JB in place maybe that was a bad idea
http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x398/novaz/DSC_1340.jpg

anyway it was a cool project
Thanks DVan for letting me try it out
by the way who was it that mentioned wall Dart Hmmmmmmmmmm

Re: New Rail

Novaz, great job, we don't use the word "Defeat" though, it's "another fine mess DVan got me into".... LOL
So now we can say this honestly a Raptor20 will NOT go in the 7s' with a hardtail.
Next project will be on the drawing board this week.

Carl what kind of chassis and motor?

Re: New Rail

Eh, doesn't look too bad.  I would just straighten the front with a pair of pliers and super glue the body back together and be ready for the next pass....     I've crashed worse, hehehe....

All joking aside, it doesn't look too bad, hope you can fix it and make a good pass.
