Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

I see you ran a 16/46 gear combo did you try anything else.
the reason I am asking I bought 2 hawk 7 motors
and putting them in 120g cars with 1/16 x 435 tires
need some starting gear ratio help. maybe 15/48?
thanks for the help. 1/4 mile track 13.2 volts.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Mac this was for a class, we were all supposed to run it like you see it. The weight on these is around 100g. We had some run gears 15/46 there wasn't much of a difference, check BIGBLOCK's car he's running 15/46 I think....

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Twenty Two: Good turn out:
          Left Lane                     Right Lane
60f      E.T.     MPH         60f    E.T.      MPH    W/L  Dial in
190     1.162   43.67       183   1.156    43.58   Test runs

1st round:
178    1.146   44.51                               Brk out L 1.150

Ok after taking making a 1st run to see where the car problem was it ran a high 18s, so I took a look around took the body off, didn't see anything wrong, so I tried a 2nd run and again it ran in the high 18s, so I again looked to see where it could be hung up, I found that the interior rear corner was rubbing against the rear wheel. It was hard to see it, anyways I got the scissors out and trimmed the interior some, put it back on the track and ran the test runs, see numbers.
This car had been pretty consistent car for a long time, so after the test runs I figured I would dial in an 1.150, put the car on the line and pulled the trigger and it went off like a rocket at 1.146 so I lost by breaking out. One thing we can say here, that for a Falcon motor off the wall we're getting our moneys worth.
It's now been 22 weeks and the motor is still running strong and the car is holding up quite well, I'd say money well spent so far.
See you next week.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Twentythree: Good turn out of racers.

Left Lane                         Right Lane
60ft.         E.T.     MPH      60ft.       E.T.     MPH
179         1.188    42.72    000         1.204   43.69  Test runs.

Round one:
                                    199         1.211   42.89   Dial in 1.211 W
Round two:
                                    195         1.207   42.80   Dial in 1.211 L

The Vette is still holding up quite well, no problems this evening.
It ran it's number in the first round, then it broke out in the second.
No red lights to report this week.
Good turn out for the Wed. night race.
See y'all next week.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Twenty Four: Low turn out.

Left Lane                         Right Lane
60ft.         E.T.     MPH      60ft.       E.T.     MPH
205          1.180    45.02    191        1.174   44.53  Test runs.

First round:
188         1.168     43.89                                      Dial in 1.177

Red lit once again this week, but the car would have broke out.
No excuses, car is still running nice and smooth, and it's still very solid.
See you next week.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Twenty Five: Good turn out of racers.

Left Lane                         Right Lane
60ft.         E.T.     MPH      60ft.       E.T.     MPH
197          1.177   44.65     000        1.181   43.45 Test runs.

1st round.
                                      182       1.185   43.27  Dial in 1.175 W
2nd round
                                      196      1.211    43.45  Dial in 1.175 L

Car is still performing fine, not much in maintenance for this car even after 25 weeks, motor seems to be strong, and the whole car is holding up well. See y'all next week.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Twenty Six: Good turn out:
          Left Lane                     Right Lane
60f      E.T.     MPH         60f    E.T.      MPH    W/L  Dial in
188     1.175   42.91        176   1.189    41.40  Test runs.

1st round:
173     1.183   41.85                                        W  11.73

2nd round:
184    1.219  40.91                                           L  1.181

Well after six months this car is doing well, I'd say it was a good investment for the money, the car only suffered a minor set back when the interior got loose and rubbed the rear wheel, the motor seems to be holding up quite well, so is the chassis, a good cleaning soon....
See you next week.

I worked on my controller, the trigger was real loose lately and I'm working on adding a relay with a relay switch on it, it helped a lot not to red light as I did in the past. See you next week.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

DVan , unbelivable how many passes you got out of  this motor .definatly a motor worth the price.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

David, I know I've also ran this motor in another competitions we have at the local track, so it has a lot more runs than indicated on here.
If I would have known that these motors can run this long when I started, I think that would be a great deal for a beginner.
It's still going strong. I think I'll retire this car on the "One year run".

Hey dvan i have a lexan s10 long wheelbase 1 1/16 x 250 rear wheels geared 15/50 weighs 78 grams and runs 10.66 consistant on  a 1/4 mile with a falcon motor ...... best pass was 10.59 at 48.73 mph

3/13/2012 5:47 am  #71

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

what I am impressed by 30 + weeks on the Falcon motor and after it settled down it has clicked off the same numbers just varies with track voltage amazing little motor for the cost.it looks like the other one will do the same now that it's first few runs problems are solved.. good work DVan

3/13/2012 8:13 am  #72

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Billy thanks for your input on this subject. I don't think you can beat the Falcon motor for the price and the set up seems to work well.

David, I'm shooting for a 52 weeks on this car, then I will hang it on the wall. I have a new guy run it now, it's a good test car, as to the B500 car is seems to be right on mark too, I will also retire it after 52 weeks.
