Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Big thanks, now it's just a matter of how long will this motor last, that was strange when I first started....

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

I've had some that last a long time and some that take a crap after about 2 or 3 outings.

Big I've been running this one for a while now. I think it's good for a few more weeks.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week seven Another light turn out.
The car seems to slower.

Left Lane                         Right Lane
60ft.         E.T.     MPH      60ft.       E.T.     MPH
183         1.330    41.13    185         1.213   40.62 Test runs.
182         1.210    41.96    Second run to make sure numbers were correct.

1st round
                                      181       1.252    39.10 dial 1.233 W
2nd round
                                      185       1.254     38.64 dial 1.251 W by other break-out.
3rd round
                                      188       1.257     30.64 dial 1.271 W by other break out.
4th round                         199       1.274     38.53 dial 1.251 Final Lost, by breaking out.

I think it's about all I will get out of this Falcon 7 motor, will run it again for a few more weeks to see if it will stay somewhat consistent. One more thing the motor was well used by the time I started this threads.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Bill the power at this track are batteries, I've worked to understand the recycle power (Cranking amps), as it goes up and down sometimes.
I think it's fun because it changes the run each time.
As to the car it seems pretty even for what now, 9 weeks, plus some before that, so for a Falcon motor, it's a good one.

I lost due to the red light went on, I swear I saw green on the bottom!!
I red lit.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Ten  Small turn out, the amp power seemed to be up on the track, this car has never gone under 1.160.

Left Lane                         Right Lane
60ft.         E.T.     MPH      60ft.       E.T.     MPH
                                     190        1.151   46.90  Test runs.

2nd round
162         1.159   45.90  Dial in 1.169   Broke out. Lost

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Eleven: A fair turn out, I test the car and had a few issue with the body and chassis, I fixed them and tested the car for the night.

eft Lane                         Right Lane
60ft.         E.T.     MPH      60ft.       E.T.     MPH
195          1.170   43.36    182        1.198   40.97  Test runs.
190          1.170   44.99    2nd test run after minor adjustments

                                     ---          1.163   44.53   1.161 Dial in  Won
                                     179         1.169   44.38   1.161 Dial in  Won
174         1.161     44.43                                      1.167 Dial in Broke out. Lost....

The motor seems to be working just fine at this point and for ten or more weeks, it's a great motor for the new comer.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Carl, yes for some reason that lane is a bit faster. But I hate it because they run most heavy glue cars in that lane, so there's more glue past the tree than the other lane, and I'm running this Vette without glue.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Carl and won a couple, underside of the car I have 1.160 writing on it, just so i can remember what to dial at the line, well the numbers are close to that. It's not a bad little car......(Now if the driver only knew how to dial....)

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

What is impressive is how many passes you have on the Falcon7 motor , I have never run one because I toiught they would not hold up for long.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Bill, well the track here is on batteries and they fluctuate, so sometimes it make it hard to read what the car will do.

Dave, from what I learned about the Falcon motor is that they last a long time and get better with more runs, like a fine wine, can we say that?
The more you run them the better they will perform is what Paul Wilde told me, so far the motor is proving that.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Twelve: Not much of a report, but I did make a few test runs and one actual run in the race, it was more of break out and red light night for me.

Left Lane                         Right Lane
60ft.         E.T.     MPH      60ft.       E.T.     MPH
181          1.209   40.24     239        1.227   46.09 Test runs
179          1.201   40.24     193        1.173   44.74 Test runs

1st round
                                     000        1.171    43.62 on a 1.171 dial Red lit with a .499 light, ran the number though......
Motor seemed a little slow at the start of testing, but than picked up for the 1st round.
More racing on Sunday....

204         1.274  38.27 Dial in 1.241 Lost.

It seems that the motor is slowing down, or the power wasn't up like in recent races, I'll check in next week after I give the motor a good cleaning.

See you next week.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Bill, not bad for a $85 complete car.
http://bracket500.com/links/psl/psl.html
Here's the original link to building these cars.
I did run that car before I started the weekly thread, so it
has more runs than I posted for this thread.
Also it won a few races, so you could say I got some of
my money back.

It seemed that the power was a problem with most cars that ran this night, the bigger motors ran much faster than usual, and this Falcon motor went a little too fast as well, see y'all next week.

Place the car at the line, it seemed to be a little tight, the rear wheels were not turning for some reason, tried to fix the problem, set the car down and pulled the trigger, car left the line not so well and past the tree, it slowed way down and it stop 1/3 of the way down the track, it would not move.
This week I'll be looking into the problem, the motor is still running.
See you next week.
