Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Your car seems to be pretty deadly. I like them when there that consistent.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Al, these spec cars have been pretty consistent with them Falcon motors. I think the gearing helps alot as well. The other one I have runs pretty well it's numbers, but if I only could be constistent at the tree...
We do run batteries on a 1/4 mile but the problem is waiting for the recycling charge, I'm getting better at reading that, sometimes we run fast and some other times slow. It shows pretty well this evening with the numbers I ran.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

I just noticed that you got to run the same lane all night. That really helps, doesn't it. Most of the time I'll be in the same lane till the semi, or finals, then draw the other lane. By then you don't have a clue what to dial for that lane.

6/30/2011 6:30 am  #7

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Billy yes I ran the same lane, I drew the lane choice in two of the runs and the two I didn't, that's becuase I remove all the glue in the first ten feet of the track and the others all run glue.
The spec cars I run use no glue what so ever, so track and rear wheels have to be clean.

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

LA, I have no clue, that was set up as part of some rules for that class. I just kept it that way.
BPIR had a 16 tooth pinion gear with a 46 crown rule , our track didn't carry the 16 so we went to the 15...

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Ken it's nothing to do with any ones times. It's not who is the fastest, it's just to see how consistent cars are.
We're not racing on here, just trying to show newbies you don't have to be fast.

I try not to run my bracket cars during the week especially if they are dialed in (for me that's rare, I leave the bracket cars at home so I don't wear them out unless one needs work....  ).

Besides, Wednesday nights are for tearing up cars and trying different things that I can't try during a race day.  It's nice to have a lane to yourself that you can monitor conditions and take notes without rushing (and I don't have to worry about anyone getting hit by a crashing car or flying pieces  ).

Nice numbers D, but why did the car pick up to a 1.145 and 1.147?  I don't remember how Eddie's track is set up, but did you change anything?  Maybe running nest to a car that doesn't suck too many amps?

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Gary, that car has a Falcon, all the guys I race have Big Blocks, so yes they all suck up the amps, and Eddies track on batteries will not stay even on power it changes either way through out the night. Wednesday nights is our Bracket race night and I run a few cars, I just run this one to see how long it will run with the same motor with no changes to the body chassis, or anything else.....

Re: DVan Vette One year run testing.

Week Six Fair turn out.

Left Lane                         Right Lane
60ft.         E.T.     MPH      60ft.       E.T.     MPH
178          1.177   42.37     178        1.191   40.91  Test runs.

1st round
177         1.168    42.87      Got to run the left lane all night.

2nd round
186         1.181    43.53       Dial in 1.173  Other lane broke out.

3rd round
186         1.188    42.77       Dial in 1.181  Other lane broke out.

4th round
180         1.195   42.33        Dial in 1.181  Other lane red lit.

Final
181         1.198    42.88       Dial in 1.179  Other lane red lit.
Won by red light default.

At beginning of testing the car would only go past the 60ft line and die, looked at the car and made sure wire connections were intact, tried again, same results, took some lighter fluid to the Falcon 7 Motor, squirted a few drops, spun the motor and tried again, it went for the 1st test run results.
